Add, Edit, and Delete Content Standards

You can add, edit, and delete content standards for existing publications.

Note: You can also mass-upload content standards for a new publication using an Excel spreadsheet. For more information, refer to Mass-Upload Content Standards and SOCKs.

To add a content standard:

  1. Verify that the Standards tab is selected for the desired publication.

  1. To add a new Level 1 content standard, click Add New and skip to step 5.

  2. To add a content standard at any level, hover over the content standard name for which you wish to add a child or sibling to view the available action icons.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • To add a content standard at the same level (that is, a sibling), click Add Sibling button.

    • To add a content standard at the level below (that is, a child), click Add Child button.

  1. Using Table 10 as a reference, enter the field values for the new content standard row that is displayed at the specified level.

  1. Click Save. A window appears, displaying the row that you added along with its parent, if applicable.

  1. To continue, click Next. ITS validates the additions to ensure no validation issues are generated.

  2. If validation issues are generated, the issues are listed in the pop-up window. Fix any errors and click Next. ITS presents the items or tests affected by the additions.

  3. To continue saving the new content standard, click Save. A confirmation message appears, indicating that the content standard has been successfully added.

To edit an existing content standard:

  1. From the Actions column of the content standard that you wish to edit, click Edit. Alternatively, click Edit Row button, which appears when you hover over the content standard name, to enable editing.

  1. Place your cursor on the field you wish to update and make modifications as necessary. If a field is editable, placing your cursor in the field causes it to display a red border. Table 10 describes the constituent fields.

  1. Click Save, which only appears after you navigate away from the field you edited. A window appears, displaying the updates you have made.

  2. To continue, click Next. ITS validates the updates to ensure no validation issues are generated.

  3. If validation issues are generated, the issues are listed in the window. Fix the errors, if applicable, and click Next. ITS presents the items or tests affected by the updates.

  4. To continue saving your updates, click Save. A confirmation message appears, indicating that the content standard has been successfully updated.

To delete an existing content standard:

  1. Click Delete Row button, which appears when you hover over the content standard name that you wish to delete. The content standard is displayed with a strikethrough.

  1. Click Save. A window appears, displaying the content standard rows that you are about to delete.

  2. To continue, click Next. ITS validates the updates to ensure no validation issues are generated.

  3. If validation issues are generated, the issues are listed in the window. Fix any errors and click Next. ITS presents the items or tests affected by the deletion.

  4. To continue deleting the content standards, click Save. A confirmation message appears, indicating that the content standards have been successfully deleted.
