Benchmark Reports

This report displays performance data for all the benchmarks for each of the reporting categories in the selected test grade and subject.

For information about the entity levels at which benchmark performance data is available, see Table 1.

Note: Benchmark Reports are not available for all assessment types.

Accessing the Benchmark Report

To navigate to a Benchmark Report:

1.On a score report, click Exploration Menu Icon next to the entity whose benchmark report you wish to view. The Exploration Menu opens (see Navigating Score Reports with the Exploration Menu).

2.From the What drop-down list, select Benchmarks.

3. From the When drop-down list, select Current Admin.

4.From the other drop-down lists, select values as necessary , and click View. The Benchmark Report opens.

Understanding the Benchmark Report

The Benchmark Report shows how a group of students performed on a test’s benchmarks.

Note: Student-level reports are not available for benchmark performance, because individual students do not usually respond to enough items with the same benchmark to generate a report of strengths and weaknesses.

The Performance column in this report indicates the students’ strengths and weaknesses in each benchmark, relative to their performance on the test as a whole. It does not indicate the students’ actual proficiency in that benchmark.

For example, a student group may have performed well in a benchmark, but not as well as they performed on the subject. Thus, a minus sign for that benchmark would indicate that the performance on it was below the performance on the total test. Although the students are doing well, an educator may still want to focus instruction on these areas.

Note: Because the relative strengths and weaknesses for each benchmark are computed within a specific student group, it is not appropriate to compare the benchmark performance between groups.

Table 11 describes each benchmark performance relative to the test as a whole.
