Performing Actions on the Trend Report

You can do the following tasks with Trend Reports:

Choose Who to Graph

The Trend Report allows you to plot up to five entities to compare at a time. For example, when viewing the district-level trend report, you can plot data for up to five schools. When viewing the roster-level trend report, you can plot data for up to five students associated with the roster.

To select the entities to plot:

The graph plots the performance trend for each selected entity. Each entity is plotted with a unique symbol and color.

Choose What to Graph

By default, trend reports plot performance data for the overall subject. However, you may choose to plot performance data by the reporting categories within a subject.

To specify the reporting categories to plot:

1.From the Choose Who to Graph table, mark the checkbox for the entity whose reporting categories performance data you wish to plot.

Note: You can plot claim performance data for only one entity at a time. Hence, when plotting data by reporting categories you can select one entity from the Choose Who to Graph table and up to five reporting categories from the Choose What to Graph table.

2.From the Choose What to Graph table, mark the checkboxes for the required reporting categories. The graph plots the performance trend for each selected reporting category. Each reporting category is plotted with a unique symbol and color.

Note: About the Choose What to Graph Table:
  • This table only appears when viewing the reporting categories trend report of applicable assessments (see Accessing the Trend Report).

Choose Trend Data to Plot

By default, the trend report plots the average scale scores for the selected assessment and administration. However, you may choose to plot the percentage of students who are proficient across all aggregate levels.

To specify the type of trend data to plot:

Choose Administrations to Plot

By default, the trend report plots Spring Administrations or (for grade 3 ELA) Grade 3 ELA [school year] on the graph. However, you may choose to plot the administration selected on the Homepage Dashboard.

To specify which administration to plot:

View Data by Demographic Groups

You can plot trend data by demographic groups, such as gender.

To plot data by demographic group:

1.From the Breakdown by drop-down list, select the required demographic group.

2.Click Go. The Choose Who to Graph table displays separate rows for each of the demographic subgroups for each entity. For example, if breaking down a trend report by gender, the Choose Who to Graph table displays rows for All, Male, and Female for each entity.

3.Mark the checkboxes of the entity-demographic subgroups that you want to plot. You can select up to five checkboxes.

Show or Hide Trend Lines

After you have plotted trend lines, you may want to temporarily hide a trend line to have a better view of the data displayed on the graph.

To show or hide the trend lines:

1.Locate the box below the graph that lists the trend lines.

2.Click the trend line you want to hide. The selected trend line is grayed out in the trend line box and the trend line disappears from the graph.

3.To re-display the trend line, click the grayed-out trend line. The trend line reappears on the graph.

Zoom In or Out of a Trend Graph

Sometimes data points are plotted close together, and it can be difficult to tell which points belong to which entity or reporting category. You can use your mouse to zoom in on specified areas of the graph.
