For 2021-2022, a Secure Browser must be installed on each computer or tablet that will be used for student testing. The following table lists which operating systems are supported and which Secure Browser to install.

All 9.7” or larger iPads running a supported version of iPadOS. SecureTestBrowser 7
Assessment Mode disables many features automatically and requires no further setup. Additional features can be disabled through Mobile Device Management. In addition to the features disabled by Assessment Mode, also disable Voice Control, VoiceOver, and the emoji keyboard. If these are not available to disable through MDM, please disable them manually.
Chrome OS
Chromebooks SecureTestBrowser 7 Chromebooks must be in kiosk mode. Automatic updates should be disabled or limited to a specific version used successfully before summative testing begins.
8.1, 10
CAI supports any tablet running Windows 8.1 Pro or 10 but has done extensive testing only on Surface Pro, Surface Pro 3, Asus Transformer, and Dell Venue.

a64-bit Intel, AMD, and ARM devices are supported. ARM devices require x64 emulation.
b64-bit Intel and Apple silicon devices are supported. Apple silicon devices require Rosetta 2.

This plan establishes guidelines about Operating System (OS) support for Online Secure Browsers. This plan helps schools and districts manage support requirements and allows both product and IT planning in organizations based on knowledge of the support timelines.
