Publishing a Test

When you finish authoring a new test, you can publish it and specify who can administer it and when. You cannot make changes to Published tests. However, you can copy a Published test and modify the content of the copy. For more information about copying tests, see the section Managing Tests, Items, and Standards.

Note: If a test contains unsaved changes, the Publish Test button deactivates. This button only becomes active after you save the test (and all its individual items). All test items must be associated with a subject and grade level before you publish the test.

To publish a test:

1.In the Test Content Editor toolbar, click Publish Test.

2.The Test Administering window appears. On this window, you can set up the administration dates (test window) and share the test with other users for administration purposes.

Note: You can also access the Test Administering window from the Homepage by marking the checkbox for one or more published tests and clicking above the My Tests table.

3.To specify the dates on which the test will be available for administration, select a start date and end date from the fields in the Administer Dates section.

4.In the Administration Settings section, select the recipients for the shared content:

• To share the content with an individual user, mark the Individual radio button, and enter that user's email address in the provided search field.

Alert: You must enter the email address that the individual uses to access AIRWays Authoring.

• To share the content with a workgroup, mark the Workgroup radio button, and enter that workgroup's name in the provided search field.
• To share the content with an institution (such as your school), mark the Institution radio button, and enter that institution’s name in the provided search field

a.Click the name of the intended recipient. The selected recipient appears in the Currently Administered With column. You can repeat this step to add additional recipients.

b.Optional: To remove a selected recipient, click beside their name.

5.Click Save. The test will be available in the AIRWays Test Administration component for the selected recipients on the specified dates.

Note: Publishing a test automatically changes the status of any Draft items on the test to Published. You cannot publish an item independently of a test. For more information about item statuses, see Appendix B.
