Appendix D: Creating Paper-Based Interactions
Some students require paper versions of assessments. IAT allows you to create paper-based content for certain interactions in order to support students testing with this accommodation. Paper-based interactions may or may not have a similar appearance to their corresponding online interactions. However, for most interaction types, the answer space in paper-based interactions consists of a set of bubbles that students must fill in by hand.
If you wish to create an item exclusively in paper-based format, you must first create an online version (which will generate the paper version, including the scoring rubric).
Currently, paper content is supported for the following interaction types:
- Multiple Choice
- Multiple Select
- Standard Edit Task
- Edit Task with Choice
- Edit Task Inline Choice
- Equation
- External Copy
- Selectable Hot Text
- Reorderable Hot Text
- Drag-from-Palette Hot Text
- Custom Hot Text (edit only; refer to Selectable Hot Text for information)
- Interaction Group
- Table Match
- Column Match
- Simple Text Entry
- Embedded Text Entry
- Griddable Text Entry (identical to Embedded Text Entry)
- Natural Language (edit only; refer to Simple Text Entry)
You can also create paper-based Rich Text content.
